How SPC Flooring Is Built

SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) flooring is built up in layers, from a protective top coat down to a cushioned backing. Each layer plays a specific role in how the floor wears, feels, and holds up over time.

UV Coating — a protective top finish that resists scuffs and fading and makes daily cleaning easier.
Wear Layer — a clear layer that protects against scratches and wear; thickness varies by collection and generally drives durability.
Décor Film — the printed layer that gives the plank its color and wood-look pattern.
Craft Core Board — the rigid stone-plastic composite core that gives the plank its stability and locking strength.
IXPE Underlay — a cushioned backing layer that adds underfoot comfort and sound dampening.

Our 8 mm American Plus collection uses a slightly different build — a 6.5 mm Pure SPC core paired with a 1.5 mm IXPE underlay — see that collection’s specs below.
